Application: SiC heating element has higher porosity about 23%, so SiC will be oxidized slowly under high temperature, free silicon in materials will form SiO2, the resistance of SiC heating elements will increase gradually, it’s aging. Generally, SiO2 will form a protection film on surface of heating elements, which will obstruct O2 getting into the elements further and restrain the oxidization. However, a small number of vapor will generate apparent oxidization to SiC heating elements, the reaction equation is:

 SiC+ 4H2O →SiO2+ CO2+ 4H

In order to prolong service life of SiC heating element and postpone the aging speed, we launched A coating. This coating will form a compact quartz film on surface of SiC heating elements, like the glaze on ceramic surface, which seals pores on surface of SiC elements and postpone the oxidization to elements body by O2 and vapor, application in the furnaces with oxidization and vapor, service life improves more than 30%.
